Skagen Nordic Academy was a competition for architecture students that Studio Rebecca Norberg entered together with Miranda Menzies and Simone Søndergaard Poulsen. The aim of the competition was to present a concept and design for a Nordic Art Academy on the northern coast of Denmark. The proposal was a circular path laid out in the landscape with shelters alongside that could function as housing, workshops and galleries for an artist-in-residence program. The proposal also included a sheltered viewing point at one end of the path (towards the water) and a small museum/gathering center on the opposite end (towards the land). One of the aspects the project dealt with was the rising water level in the area and the proposal suggested working with the contrast of permanence and impermanance in architectural structures. This was inspired by the nature and neglected bunkers near by. The proposal was chosen as one of the finalists and got exhibited for the summer at Skagen Odde Nature Center by Jørn Utzon.
