OPEN DESK OPEN CALL
SHARING SPACES AND DESIGNS
OPEN DESK is changing the way furniture is made by connecting customers to local makers. The platform acts as a host of digital furniture designs that can be made anywhere in the world through a global network of makers. Instead of buying the physical piece, one buys a digital file for getting the pieces cut (and possibly assembled) at a local workshop.
When seeing a post about an open call for designs, Studio Rebecca Norberg and Megan Blake teamed up to develop a proposal. The brief was to design a room divider for open plan work spaces. More specifically, to delineate space and "to create pockets of privacy and calm, give someone the sense of their own space when they need it, or separate a reception area from busy workstations, meetings, coffee makers and late lunch".
The entry made it to the short list but a winner is yet to be announced.
