FLOE is a tray made from recycled concrete. The design came about through a collaboration between Studio Rebecca Norberg and Häli-Ann Tooms Studio as an entry for the FindersKeepers X Yume "Beautiful & Sustainable" product design competition. The concept was to design an object that held symbolic value in terms of both social, environmental and economic sustainability. Socially, FLOE pays tribute to the collective memory of sharing a meal and encourages us to gather around food sharing. Environmentally, the shape of FLOE is inspired by the blocks of ice that are melting as a result of global warming. Economically, the materiality of FLOE reminds us that we have to re-evaluate the concept of waste and that everything is part of a larger ecosystem. The product is under development.
