THE MAKING OF A CREATIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT
FILMSTATIONEN is an old military air base that has been converted into a location for film shootings. The site consists of studios, workshops and offices, it hosts over 50 creative businesses. However, the repurposing of the site and expansion beyond film making is not very visible. On top of this, there is a wish to have more shared spaces where people can meet, hangout and get to know each other, across professions and companies. Studio Rebecca Norberg collaborated with Filmstationen to propose a transformation of the central courtyard and surrounding buildings.
The main idea of the project was to provide spaces for people to meet, work together and enjoy recreational activities, examples being a shared cafeteria, a winter garden/exhibition hall, more accentuated thresholds and seating areas outside. The project served as Rebecca's thesis project at the Spatial Design studio of The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. It was also presented to the board of directors and community of Filmstationen.
